Kensington Palace Just Released Three Sweet New Photos of Prince Louis for His First Birthday

From Town & Country

In honor of Prince Louis's first birthday tomorrow, Kensington Palace has released a trio of adorable portraits of the young royal.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share three new photographs of Prince Louis ahead of his first birthday tomorrow," reads a statement from the Palace, which was released alongside the photo on social media:

It's particularly exciting to see a new picture of Will and Kate's youngest child, as the first year of his life was relatively undocumented by the press. Of course, Louis made his public debut on the steps of the Lindo Wing almost exactly a year ago and a series of official portraits of the child were released shortly after his birth.

But other than that, royal watches only saw Louis a few times this past year. He was photographed at his christening, and appeared on the Cambridge family Christmas card, and a few pictures of the little prince were shared in conjunction with Prince Charles's 70th birthday. But overall, he has spent his first 12 months largely out of the public eye.

It seems likely that Meghan and Harry's first child, who is due any day now, will be raised in a similar fashion. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have even chosen to forgo the traditional photocall on the hospital steps. Instead, they will pose for a picture sometime shortly after the birth.

"Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private," reads a statement released earlier this month.

"The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family."
