Kendrick Lamar Drops New pgLang Video Starring Yara Shahidi and Jorja Smith
Rapper Kendrick Lamar, along with his longtime collaborator and producer Dave Free, recently announced the launch of their new media company, pgLang. The two founders teased their announcement by dropping a mysterious but spellbinding visual mission statement via social media on March 5.
The full length visual mission statement from Kendrick is a gorgeous four-minute concept video that appears on the homepage of the website and includes appearances from Yara Shahidi, Baby Reem, Jorja Smith and Kendrick himself. You can watch the whole video on the pgLang website.
In an official statement from the pgLang team, per GQ, the company is described as being a “new multilingual, at service company.” The agency will house producers, artists, musicians, writers, and many more forms of communicators on different platforms.
The company’s written mission statement appears on the top of the homepage as hidden text, but once removed, reads as the following: “pgLang is multilingual. Our community speaks music, film, television, art, books, and podcasts-- because sometimes we have to use different languages to get the point of stories across. Stories that speak to many nations, many races, and many ages. That is why our writers, singers, directors, musicians, and producers break formats when we build ideas and make them real for the curious. Putting round pegs through sqaure holes is not a process, but we embrace the idea of anarchy and challenges that make us stronger. pgLang is focused on using our experiences, and nurturing our many collaborators, to build stories that are equally accessible and engaging then fitting them within the best media. We are creators -- pgLang.”
