  • Ken Jennings had a remarkable comeback when Jeopardy! contestant Brian Chang tried to roast him during Tuesday's episode.

  • Jeopardy! fans online rallied behind Ken after the exchange and complimented the game show champion on his hosting skills.

  • Ken is one of many guest hosts filling in at the lectern while Jeopardy! seeks to find a permanent replacement for the late Alex Trebek.

Ken Jennings had the best response when contestant Brian Chang decided to take a playful shot at the Jeopardy! guest host this week.

During Tuesday's "Final Jeopardy!" round, the three contestants were asked to write down an answer to the clue, "Adjusted for inflation, the nightly rate this company put in its name in 1962 is now $51." While the other two contestants correctly guessed "what is Motel 6?," Brian didn't write down the right answer. Instead, he took the opportunity to poke fun at the guest host, who happens to be Jeopardy!'s all-time champion.

"What is H&R Block?" Brian wrote down with a smiley face. As longtime Jeopardy! fans know, Ken's 74-game wining streak was broken back in 2004 when he couldn't come up with "what is H&R Block?" as his 'Final Jeopardy!' answer.

Despite Brian's lighthearted comment, Ken handled the situation like a total pro. "Now, Brian, I know from experience 'H&R Block' is sometimes the right answer, but not today, I'm afraid," he told the contestant. Even still, Brian only wagered $3,799 during "Final Jeopardy!" which made him the winner with $13,201.

Reacting to the exchange, folks online complimented Ken for his hosting skills and taking Brian's jab in stride. "Ken's got 2 million reasons why that doesn't bother him a bit," one fan commented on the Youtube clip of the exchange. "Do not mess with the host, it could be jeopardizing," another said. "I actually really like the idea of Ken as the new host for Jeopardy. I think that’s smart and he plays the role well," a different fan remarked.

Ken has been guest hosting the show since January 11. During his debut, he paid special tribute to Alex Trebek, Jeopardy!'s former longtime host who died this past November after battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

"Not many things in life are perfect, but Alex did this job pretty much perfectly for more than 36 years, and it was even better up close," Ken remarked. "We were dazzled by his intelligence, his charm, his grace; really, there's no other word for it. Like all Jeopardy! fans, I miss Alex very much and I thank him for everything he did for all of us. Let's be totally clear, no one will ever replace the great Alex Trebek. But we can honor him by playing the game loved."

Following Ken's stint, Jeopardy! viewers will be treated to several other guest hosts, including Katie Couric, Bill Whitaker, and Mayim Bialik. Jeopardy! has not yet announced Alex's permanent replacement.
