Kelsea Ballerini is up for two trophies at the 2023 ACM Awards, but she already won in the fashion department, thanks to a risky choice for a recent event in New York.
In early April, the country singer was in Times Square to attend the opening night of Broadway's new musical Shucked. Bringing along boyfriend Chase Stokes for support, she caught everyone's attention by stepping out in a yellow Yves Saint Laurent minidress that matched the aesthetic of the show's marketing campaign. The design of the long-sleeve ensemble was unique, as it featured strategic ruching down its seams. The leftover material was then sewn together at the front to make it look like it had a knot tied right at the midriff.
The true highlight of the "Heartfirst" singer's premiere attire came from the bold deep peekaboo neckline that ran down the middle of the dress. The avant-garde design not only added a pop to the red carpet look, but it added a bit of sexy to Kelsea's approach to Broadway fashion.
Because the "Dibs" songstress' dress was whimsical, Kelsea accented it with equally fun accessorizes. She used a touch of sparkle by wearing dangling earrings. The vocalist then added some sophistication with a pair of sheer tights and black patent pointed stilettos with a strap at the ankle.
What's more, she slicked her blonde hair back into a high ponytail and tight-lined her eyes with black eyeliner for a bold effect. Finally, she pulled everything together with rosy blush and a neutral lipgloss.
As footage from Kelsea's appearance began circulating on Instagram, it didn't take long for fans to share what their thoughts about the bright dress.
"Omg love this," one person wrote in the comments section. "Like OKKKKK💅🏼💅🏼," a different user complimented. "Major slay," another follower added.
If Kelsea's latest date night look is is anything to go by, we can't wait to see what she wears if she shows up at the ACM Awards. Who knows, maybe she'll go home with her own accolade as well ...
