Kelsea Ballerini Stunned on the Grammys Red Carpet Using Only Makeup You Can Find at the Drugstore

Kelsea Ballerini sparkled in a golden gown and equally warm and glowing makeup.
The Grammy nominee for Best Solo Country Performance shared that everything she used for her red carpet look can be found at the drugstore.
Ballerini’s makeup artist shares the step-by-step process of her stunning look.
Kelsea Ballerini truly shined in her “sunshine dress” at the Grammys, and her full glam makeup shined just as bright as her golden yellow gown. She was nominated for Best Solo Country Performance, and although she didn’t win, Ballerini has never looked better. The Grammy nominee shared all of her favorite makeup picks that went into the vision, and to our surprise, you can find them at your local drugstore.
As the current face of CoverGirl, it comes as no surprise that the country singer’s Grammy look was created entirely with the brand’s makeup products. Ballerini’s makeup artist, Kelsey Deenihan, gave an exclusive look at the products she used to get Ballerini red-carpet ready.
Here’s the in-depth, step-by-step process that went into curating Ballerini’s one-of-a-kind Grammy look:
“I wanted Kelsea’s monochromatic, warm copper makeup look to complement her gorgeous sunshine yellow Prabal gown,” Deenihan told People. To prep Ballerini’s skin before applying her makeup, she used the CoverGirl Clean Fresh Skincare Priming Glow Mist, which contains rosewater and vitamin C, ingredients known for brightening and hydrating your skin.
The next product used to prep the “Heartfirst” singer’s skin was the Clean Fresh Skincare Correcting Serum + Moisturizer + Primer, which is formulated with avocado and ceramides to moisturize and strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier all at once. While it’s available in four different shades to combat redness, dark spots, and dullness, the shade Ballerini used for the look was “Fair,” which is specifically designed to neutralize redness with contrasting green pigment.
After priming and prepping Ballerini’s skin, it’s time for foundation. Deenihan told People that she applied “a light veil of CoverGirl Clean Fresh Skin Milk Foundation in a mixture of shades 540 Light and 560 Medium.” This lightweight foundation was created for all skin tones and types to leave a dewy, fresh finish—which is evident in the Grammy nominee’s radiant complexion.
For a warm, glowing glam to match Ballerini’s golden gown, the next step in her carefully curated look was applying bronzer and blush. “To add a bronze glow to Kelsea’s cheeks, I swept the CoverGirl TruBlend So Flushed High Pigment Bronzer in the color 420 Warmth from her temples across her cheekbones,” Deenihan told People.
While this product is technically a powdered bronzer, the TruBlend formula is highly pigmented and feels creamy to the touch. Plus, it’s designed to feel comfortably weightless for all-day wear. The bronzer comes in three degrees of warmth as well as several glowing blush shades, like Coral Crush, which Deenihan used above the bronzer on Ballerini’s cheekbones.
According to Deenihan, multiple eyeshadow palettes were used to create the singer’s enchanting, smoky-eye look. She first swiped on a warm pink-brown from the CoverGirl Clean Fresh Clean Color Eyeshadow Palette in 222 Dreamy Pink to heat up the lids followed by the second and third shades from the CoverGirl Clean Fresh Clean Color Eyeshadow Palette in 262 Golden Toffee along the outer corners of the eyes to add definition. She then used her finger to press in the second shimmery copper shade from the CoverGirl Clean Fresh Clean Color Eyeshadow Palette in 252 Spiced Copper onto the lids.
“To finish the look, we chose CoverGirl Exhibitionist Crème Lipstick in 505 Burnt Red Pepper,” Deenihan shared with People. “I love this lipstick, not only because the color is beautiful, but because the formula is moisturizing and long-lasting—perfect for all-night wear!”
