Kelsea Ballerini Speaks Out About Her PCCA Performance After Receving Major Blowback

Kelsea Ballerini can sing, y'all! The country music star cleared the air after an unfortunate production error had fans calling her performance at the People's Choice Country Awards the "worst lip syncing ever."
The "Penthouse" singer was a four-time nominee at the inaugural fan-voted awards show. She received nods for The People's Artist of 2023, The Female Artist of 2023, The Album of 2023, and The Social Country Star of 2023. But she got the most attention when she took the stage to perform "Mountain with a View."
The live broadcast on NBC showed Kelsea very out of sync with the music. One fan on TikTok wrote, "I love my girl Kelsea so much but what happened tonight on the People's Choice Country Awards...Lip syncing? What the heck happened?" Another posted, "@Kelsea Ballerini what happened at the People's Choice Country Awards? Uh oh. I know you can sing!"
Kelsea took to her Instagram Stories to set the record straight. She said, "I just want to say, if I was lip syncing, I would've sounded a lot better. One of the cameras was off. Thank you. And goodnight."
Kelsea also shared a photo of herself from the event giving "bombastic side eye"with the caption, "me singing live watching people thinking otherwise."
Fans jumped to her defense in the comments section with messages like, "the videographers may of done you dirty but you still killed it & the real ones know you didn’t lip sing🙌❤️" and "You slayed, as usual. 🔥👏 Anyone who has seen you live, knows you were singing."
NBC seemed to address the technical difficulties on their Instagram feed. They reposed Kelsea's performance with the caption, "@kelseaballerini’s FLAWLESS glitch-free performance 🤩 nobody does live vocals like her!"
