Kelsea Ballerini Rocked Shania Twain's Iconic '90s Grammy Dress to Country Music Event

The 28-year-old honored Twain with her dress choice for the ACM Honors.

Kelsea Ballerini transformed into her role model on the red carpet for the Academy of Country Music Honors.

The singer donned Shania Twain's iconic 1999 Grammy Awards dress for the country music event at which Twain was an honoree.

The Grammy Museum loaned Ballerini the dress, with a rep telling PEOPLE, "Kelsea reached out, and Shania was more than happy to lend her the dress and thought it [was] really fun."

When Twain first wore the dress at the 1999 Grammy Awards, she performed her hit song, "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!"

She also won two awards that night: Best Country Song and Best Country Vocal Performance for her song "You're Still The One."

This time around, Ballerini wore the dress as a way to honor Twain while the Canadian singer received the Poet's Award from the Academy of Country Music.

Meanwhile, Twain wore her own classic style on the red carpet, and the two country singers even posed together for a photo.

To make the night even more special, Ballerini performed Twain's hit, "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!," while wearing a replica outfit from the original music video.

Twain spoke with Entertainment Tonight about her reaction to Ballerini's outfit choice, saying, "I am so blown away...She looks stunning. She looks like an absolute angel. It's very flattering to see her in the dress, and that she even wanted to wear it. I said, 'I hope it's not too dusty after being in the [GRAMMY Museum].'"

The 56-year-old went on to highlight the significance of the dress for her.

She said, "It was an incredible night for me at the GRAMMYs [in 1999]. That dress represented that experience, so I'm just happy to see it alive again...Obviously it's a huge compliment to be admired enough that someone would want to step into my dress."
