With over a decade in the spotlight, Kelsea Ballerini is no stranger to spending time in the hair and makeup chair. It's because of this that the Pantene ambassador has always been aware of her haircare decisions and how they might play out in the long run.

"There are so many things that I put my hair through...up in a ponytail, down, with clip-in extensions, chopped, in many different wigs...it's constant," the singer tells Women's Health. "I love being able to express myself through my hair and glam, but there is definitely a price to pay that comes with that."

As one of Pantene's newest ambassadors, Ballerini decided to take on a 12-week challenge to transform her hair using the Miracle Rescue Deep Repair Conditioner, a fast-acting hair mask meant to visibly repair up to six months of damage using the brand's signature Pro-V pearls.

"Being able to find products that are scientifically backed, affordable, and [inclusive] is a beautiful thing to align with," she says. "It's been nice to start over on this healing hair journey and get it to a good spot again."

Ahead, Ballerini shares more about her partnership with Pantene and her hair and skincare practices.

Repairing hair damage is a form of self-care for Ballerini

Ballerini says she recently wrapped up "the craziest year of my whole career," and between getting glammed up for red carpet events, touring, and TV appearances, it's safe to say that the singer's hair went through a lot. In 2024, Ballerini is focusing on spending more time with herself and homing in on the self-care practices that keep her grounded—that includes taking better care of her hair.

"In the last few months, I've been trying to take care of myself and give myself a reset so I can come into this year from a healthy space," she says. "The main thing that I was dealing with was a lot of split ends from heat, some hair breakage, definite frizziness, and a ton of dullness, which is just natural—we're all going to have that."

Despite the negative side effects of consistent manipulation and styling, Ballerini loves the role hair plays in her confidence, which is why she relies on her go-to products that allow her hair to keep up. "I'm in my homebody era, and that allows me to throw on a mask, brush [my hair] back into a nice bun, and let it set until I shower," she says.

A handful of products have kept the singer's hair in top shape.

Ballerini has leaned heavily on the Pantene Miracle Rescue Deep Repair Conditioner throughout her 12-week journey, but she's also a big fan of the brand's Miracles Bond Repair Keratin + Vitamin E Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Miracle Rescue 10-in-1 Multitasking Leave-in Conditioner Spray. The leave-in spray conditions and strengthens the hair from the inside out while also providing heat protection, which likely comes in handy when the singer is being prepped with heat tools for big events and TV appearances. "For the longest time I was such a skeptic about heat protectant," she says. "But I have been religiously using this one. I don't put anything on my hair without it now."

Ballerini knows the healing journey goes beyond 12 weeks.

To kick off her hair repair journey, Ballerini traded in her long locks for a shorter look to get rid of damage and split ends and set her hair on the right path. Once the challenge was over, Ballerini was able to see and feel improvements in her hair.

Still, she knows that the best results come with time and consistency. "I'm definitely not stopping," she says. "It's not like 12 weeks, and I'm done. I want to keep taking care of it so it can keep up with what I end up putting it through this year."

For Ballerini, skincare is just as important.

While haircare is always on her mind, Ballerini also relies on a few key skincare products to keep her skin glowing. To remove makeup and sweat post-show, she reaches for the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleansing Makeup Remover Wipes.

For a gentle refresh, she sprays on the CoverGirl Clean Fresh Skincare Priming Glow Facial Mist with Rose Water and Vitamin C. She's especially fond of using it this time of year because of the dry weather.

Another staple for the country star? The Aquaphor Healing Ointment. "I always have it with me all the time," she says. "I have bad eczema sometimes, so I use it for that. I also use it for my lips and under-eyes at night on top of my skincare."
