Kelly Rutherford is Lily van der Woodsen’s double in a pink cut-out dress

While we obvs love Serena and Blair equally – and more importantly together, they're the ultimate BFF goals – all Gossip Girl fans can easily choose which Upper East Side wardrobe they'll be raiding. Prefer a preppy aesthetic with a penchant for headbands? You're heading to the Waldorf penthouse. If relaxed, boho vibes paired with accessories on accessories on accessories is more your style, you'll be knocking on the van der Woodsen's door for sure.

But it's only now, watching the show back 17 years (!!) after it was first released that we're taking note of another fashion icon. We're talking about Lily van der Woodsen, played by Kelly Rutherford. After all, Serena had to inherit her sartorial prowess from somewhere.

So when Kelly attended an event during the 2024 Cannes Film Festival yesterday [Thursday 16 May] we know we weren't the only ones who thought it was Lily van der Woodsen stepping out onto the red carpet IRL.

Kelly looked so elegant wearing a pink floral patterned maxi dress that featured a slashed neckline tied together with bows to create a series of keyhole cut-outs. The dress also featured an asymmetric sleeve that repeated the bow-tie detail nailing two big spring summer fashion trends, cut-out dresses and bow details. Kelly accessorised the look with white heeled pumps and a white shoulder bag slung over one shoulder.

As for her beauty look, she opted for a smokey eye with a glossy pink lip. Her hair was swept up into a slightly messy bun tied with a white ribbon to pull the ensemble together and show off her shoulder-grazing diamond drop earrings.

Yep, there's no denying this look is straight out of Lily van der Woodsen's wardrobe.
