  • Kelly Rowland, 41, shared the $15 sunscreen she said is “incredible.”

  • The Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 was made for melanated skin—unlike many other sunscreens, it doesn’t leave a white cast behind.

  • It leaves skin glowing, which is why so many others love it, too.

Kelly Rowland follows a strict, extensive skincare routine. “I know it’s a little excessive,” she recently told The Cut before divulging her go-to products. However, if she had to pare it down to only the absolute necessities, her go-to sunscreen, Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30, would top the list.

The actress, 41, said the formula is an “incredible” SPF for dark skin tones. In fact, it was formulated specifically with melanated skin in mind, as the moisturizing formula effortlessly melts into the complexion without leaving a white cast behind, as so many other sunscreens do.

Added avocado and jojoba oils moisturize the skin (without leaving it greasy), vitamin E and cacao provide a dose of antioxidants, and carrot juice offers vitamin C to prevent hyperpigmentation.

In a 2018 interview with Allure, Rowland said she was “waiting for Black dermatologists to come out” with a sunscreen, and although Black Girl Sunscreen isn’t derm-created, the brand was founded and is run by a Black woman, Shontay Lundy. And Rowland isn’t the only one who loves the long-awaited formula.

It holds a 4.7-star rating on Amazon. “No white cast, very moisturizing, easy to layer, and most importantly: NO WHITE CAST 🤩🥳 . Literally made for Black queens and melanated skin tones!” one reviewer raved. “The only sunscreen I wear! A little goes a long way. Very hydrating and moisturizing. Worth the price!” another added. “I can wear it alone or under makeup and it doesn’t feel like I’m clogging my pores,” another wrote.

As for the rest of Rowland’s routine, it focuses on getting the skin ultra-clean (by cleansing not one, not two, but three times) and then replenishing it with lots of hydrating goodness. “I’m obsessed with moisture,” she told The Cut. Most of the products she uses are by her facialist Shani Darden and iS Clinical. You can shop a few of her favorites below.
