Kelly Clarkson’s Las Vegas residency has come to an end after 10 show-stopping performances. The Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood hosted Kelly’s incredible shows, that included a cover Lainey Wilson’s hit “Heart Like a Truck,” a powerful performance by a blind 12-year-old singer, and appearances from Kelly’s kids. While Kelly’s vocals hit all the right notes (as we’ve come to expect since her American Idol debut back in 2002), her gorgeous looks throughout “chemistry, an Intimate Night with Kelly Clarkson” almost stole the show. Kelly’s fashion stylist, Candice Lambert, shared the secrets to Kelly’s outfits and the inspiration behind styling the singer and her band.

Q: Kelly made each night of her residency different for her fans. How did her approach inform your styling choices?

A: “Kelly is deep-diving here with her set list. When I was coming up with ideas for the clothes, I wanted to touch a lot of elements of Kelly over the years. I did 10 different days of looks for the main part of the show and four for the Since U Been Gone' encore. For the encore, she changes into a T-shirt and skirt: That reflects Kelly early on. Her new album, chemistry, is very boho chic, so I wanted to hit all sides of her.”

“Some are more rocker, like shredded dresses and cool things like that. I deconstructed a lot of things. I took a lot of vintage pieces and added bling to it or cut sleeves off. She starts out kind of like Aerosmith and Stevie Nicks and goes back to the fan girl of loving all music and concerts.”

Q: Does Kelly have a lot of input when you work with her?

A: “Of course! I would want her to, or that wouldn’t be any fun. When I’m working with an artist, I’m just trying to enhance them and reflect who they are. I just guide them and help them get there.”

Q: How did you choose Kelly’s jewelry?

“Well, her jewelry is pretty special. There are some personal pieces of hers in there and then I have a lot of vintage pieces that I've gotten from vintage dealers. Some pieces were made for her by jewelry designers. I have a lot of drapey, fringed pieces too, a lot of diamonds and sapphires.”

Q: Are there any designers that you look towards when working with Kelly?

“I look all over. I use a lot of vintage, but she is wearing a bunch of Free People and her boots are Rick Owens. I like loveshackfancy, and I used some Chanel. I love to do high and low. I think it always comes across looking original. For the encore, I found a T-shirt that says 'Y’all' on it because she always says 'y’all,' so it’s true to her. I found another shirt that says 'Pep Club' on it because she’s always so peppy and positive and sees the bright side of everybody. I got a Bronco shirt because she loves Ford Broncos—I just looked for things that represent her.”

Q: How do you approach styling Kelly’s band?

“I talked to Kelly about it and she told me what she had in mind. We went with cool Bohemian seventies rocker with lots of black. I got the girls some sparkle and the guys some leather and suede. I love dressing them all. I tried to do four looks per person so they could switch it out and it doesn't get monotonous.”

The deluxe version of Kelly’s album, chemistry (including five all-new songs), will be on sale on September 22.
