Kelly Clarkson Wore a Daring Broadway-Inspired Outfit and Fans Can't Stop Staring at Her

Kelly Clarkson can blow away fans with whatever song she chooses to perform. But back in 2015, The Voice coach sang with Tony Award nominee Josh Groban and caused a commotion with both her voice and gorgeous outfit.

The two musicians joined together to perform a cover of "All I Ask of You" from the musical The Phantom of the Opera. As part of Josh's Stages Live TV special, he brought her out for a duet of the song on his album of the same name. When she stepped onto the stage for the television moment, folks couldn't believe how stunning she looked in a black gown that felt apropos for the Broadway-style occasion.

For the performance, the American Idol winner wore a dark ball gown that featured an off the shoulders neckline. With tulle running along the edge of the dress, its sleeves also had a sheer paneling that added modernity to a classic silhouette. What's more, the garment had intricate bead detailing throughout the dress. It created a unique pattern that gave the illusion that she sparkled under all the lights and fog machines in an ethereal moment.

With an ensemble as epic as the vocal prowess The Kelly Clarkson Show host showed off in the moment, the accents to the look had to be as stunning as her voice. Kelly's shoes weren't shown onscreen, but she wore minimal jewelry in order to let the dress shine. She styled her signature blonde hair in curls, which she parted to the side and let drape over her right shoulder. For makeup, she swiped on smoky gray eyeshadow along with rosy blush on her cheeks. She made the entire look cohesive by adding neutral colored lipstick.

As soon as fans saw a clip from the performance go live on YouTube, they couldn't stop raving about Kelly's onstage attire.

If this performance between Josh and Kelly proves anything, it's that Kelly needs to bring her voice to musical theater ASAP. Speaking of theater, Josh has a lot to celebrate. He recently received a 2023 Tony Award nomination for Lead Actor in a Musical for his work in the Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

What's more, Kelly revealed to Variety in September 2022 that she'd love to expand her résumé to include theater. "I have dreams of maybe Broadway one day," she told the outlet. "I’ve been putting it out into the universe since I was a kid."
