Kelly Clarkson, Tyra Banks, and Bebe Rexha Channel Maleficent on BBMAs 2018 Red Carpet

Is a major Maleficent moment a thing? If it wasn't before, it became one at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards — thanks to Kelly Clarkson, Tyra Banks, and Bebe Rexha. All three stars seemed to channel the infamous Disney fairy when it came to their show-stopping red carpet looks.

BBMAs host and performer Kelly Clarkson showed up first in a stunning black Christian Siriano gown with a wide belt, major statement neckline, and coordinating red lip that looked eerily similar to something Angelina Jolie would have worn in the live-action telling of Maleficent’s story. But considering Kelly lacked Maleficent’s trademark horned crown and vengeful ways — she instead brought her trademark bubbly and sweet personality — it was hard to do anything but fall in love with the look.

Presenter Tyra Banks took the Maleficent vibes to the next level when she arrived wearing a figure-hugging, knee-length black dress with a ruffled collar and shoulders that very well might have been snatched from a Disney set somewhere. (In reality, it was a design by Marc Bouwer). Paired with Tyra’s sleek high pony and intense “smize,” she all but put a spell on everyone she encountered on the red carpet.

But presenter Bebe Rexha was perhaps the closest dead ringer for the Disney queen on the BBMAs red carpet. Bebe, who also donned Christian Siriano, stunned in a velvet floor-length gown that featured a thigh-high slit and eye-catching, tulle-spiked sleeves. Completing the look was a smoky eye, top knot, and black statement jewels that left fans immediately making the Maleficent connection.

“Yes giving me Maleficent vibes,” one user wrote on Twitter about Bebe’s look. Who knows — maybe #MajorMaleficentMoment might just become the next big trend.
