Kelly Clarkson Told Her Kids That a Bunny Didn't Make Their Easter Baskets

From Oprah Magazine

  • Unlike most parents, Kelly Clarkson was honest and told her kids the truth about the Easter Bunny.

  • "Sometimes I'm tried of giving credit to non-existent things," she told People.

Kelly Clarkson and husband Brandon Blackstock may have just celebrated Easter with their youngest children—River, 4, and Remington, 3—but their was a slight hiccup in the festivities.

The Voice coach told her kids the Easter Bunny isn't real by revealing that she and Blackstock made their baskets, not a fictional character.

"I thought Easter was for us. Sometimes I'm tired of giving credit to non-existent things," Clarkson told People. "Like I'm very busy, and I took the time to shop at Target and put this all together. I did this—no bunny. They got chocolate, so they're fine."

Clarkson also said she "may not have done [Easter] right" after her nanny asked River and Remington about the bunny.

"Even my nanny came in this morning and was like, 'What did the Easter Bunny bring?' And I was like, 'Wait, what?'" she said. "I kind of just was like, 'Mommy and daddy did these for you.' I knew my mom always did it—maybe don't this to children."

Like all busy moms juggling a million responsibilities, Clarkson revealed that after doing an egg hunt and opening the baskets, she had to go into the studio to work on her next album.

"I don't get many days to actually work on my record," she said. "So yeah, I had to work on Easter. Jesus didn't mind, he told me."

The best part of Clarkson's Easter? From the looks of her tweet, it was definitely getting to paint eggs with her kids.

Talk about packing it all in a day.
