Kelly Clarkson Thanks Her Soon-to-Be Ex-Husband After Winning a Daytime Emmy Award

There's still a lot of love between Kelly Clarkson and her soon-to-be ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

On Friday, June 26, the singer made sure to give her estranged husband a shoutout after winning the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host for the first season of her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.

"OH MY GOSH!!!!!! What is happening?!!!! This is amazing!!!" Clarkson tweeted. "Thank y’all so much!!! And a MAJOR thank you to my entire crew that really is the reason I won!!! I can’t wait to celebrate with our whole crew when humans can congregate again!! This calls for a PARTY!!!!"

The singer—who's now halfway to an EGOT—filed for divorce from Blackstock on June 4, 2020, after nearly seven years of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split.

However, she still went on to publicly thank him for "believing" in her and supporting her career as her longtime manager. In another tweet, Clarkson credited her ex for convincing her to launch the talk show back in September 2019.

She added, "Thank you so much to @BBlackstock for believing in me & convincing me to do @KellyClarksonTV show and @lifeofT for being the greatest friend/assistant."

The couple's relationship reportedly took a turn after quarantining in Montana together, which "exacerbated" many of their marital issues.

"[They’ve] been like friends for a while," a source told People earlier this month. "Things had changed in their marriage, and the split was a while coming. They both work so hard. It’s nearly impossible to enjoy each other, especially with the children needing constant attention.”

While Clarkson has yet to address her breakup with Blackstock, she did open up to Demi Lovato about her struggle with depression during a virtual episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show June 24.

"I have similar issues and I suffer from depression," she said. "I think a lot of people, especially in the creative world, or just from childhood, you’ve been kind of trained to, like, just keep going and you can handle it. Especially as a woman, it’s like, ‘Don’t let ’em see you sweat.’”
