Kelly Clarkson recently stopped by the Today Show to discuss her new record Chemistry and moving her namesake talk show set from Los Angeles to New York City. The Grammy winner also revealed whether or not she plans to tour more in the future (as many fans have urged her to on social media).

Last month, the “Mine” singer sat down with interviewers Carson Daly and Hoda Kotb following the release of her highly anticipated tenth studio album. The “Since U Been Gone” hitmaker, as fans know, embarked on eight headlining tours throughout her career.

The 41-year-old previously announced ten shows as part of her Chemistry: An Intimate Evening With Kelly Clarkson Las Vegas residency. Some diehard fans simply want more shows after hearing her post-divorce rock record! Clarkson addressed this:

Will Kelly Clarkson Add More Tour Dates In Support Of Chemistry?

Clarkson was all smiles during her Today appearance and donned a chic, multicolored, floral maxi dress. While the trio sat on the show's couch, Daly brought up how fellow popstar Miley Cyrus "doesn't want to tour anymore."

He then turned to Clarkson and said: "You have the Vegas residency, you have the talk show, you have kids, you're a mom first." He asked: "What do you tell your fans who want to see you live?"

Clarkson replied, acknowledging how many of her devotees seem to want her to tour more (as seen from comments on her social media posts): "I do actually love touring, going to different places and being on stage. It's a different life, right? But it is incredibly hard to do that if you're trying to be a very present parent, plus a talk show from 9 to 5."

The former Voice coach continued: "It's just a lot so if I weren't doing the talk show I would [tour more], but it's just that I'm on a new path." Regarding her new record, Clarkson said that she "waited until I was through it, so now it's like a different chapter for me."

She dropped Chemistry on June 23, 2o23 and spoke to Daly and Kotb about its songs (and the ones with lyrics about her tumultuous divorce and split from ex Brandon Blackstock).

"It's very intense going through that kind of loss, it's grief," she said about her musical creation process. "I waited a good amount of time to release it. Now, I've been sitting with these songs for two and a half or three years and everybody else is finally getting to hear them."

Clarkson was married to producer and executive Blackstock from 2013 to 2021. They share one daughter River (born 2014) and son Remington (born 2016).

In March 2022, it was reported that Clarkson and Blackstock's divorce was finalized. The "Breakaway" artist referred to her new release as a "very intense record" and "very personal" LP when speaking with Daly and Kotb. "I kept debating whether I was going to release it or not," she confessed.

After getting divorced, Clarkson said that her living situation "was just me and my kids all the way on that [West] coast." All of her family, she explained, "lives on the East Coast," so "it got lonely" living so far away from them. This inspired her decision.

The soon-to-be NYC-based show has scored 13 Daytime Emmys, including three for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host for Clarkson (2020 to 2022) and two for Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment (2021 to 2022).

For the 2023 Emmys, it is nominated for 11 Daytime Emmys, including Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host and Outstanding Talk Series.

The Kelly Clarkson Show will relocate to NBC Studios in New York City this fall. It will film in Studio 6A with a live studio audience. Clarkson’s show debuted in 2019, and was renewed through 2025 back in November 2022.
