Cowell and Abdul reflected on the impact Clarkson's had on the show during their respective speeches at the ceremony.

During Cowell's speech, he noted that Clarkson paved the way for another season of the show and that she validated everything that American Idol was trying to accomplish—find stars and musical artists.

"I remember that moment when your name was called, and I was thinking to myself, 'Thanks to you, we may have another season.' I can honestly say to you, thanks to you. You validated what we did, because if we didn't find a star, there was no point in doing these shows," Cowell said during his speech.

Abdul extended her thanks to the singer in her speech "for changing the trajectory of my life and making me believe like a kid believes in Santa Claus. That young, talented people can make it, and they can make it big time."

We're sending our sincerest congrats to Clarkson on this huge achievement!
