American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, just revealed some behind-the-scenes information about her performance at the 57th American Country Music Awards.

Kelly sang the iconic, yet intimidating, "I Will Always Love You," in honor of country music Hall of Famer Dolly Parton, and absolutely stunned fans with her vocal ability.

But while Kelly's performance was a smash, the 41-year-old recently revealed in an interview with Andy Cohen for SiriusXM Town Hall, that the performance was a difficult one for more reasons than one.

When she initially agreed to perform a tribute to Dolly Parton, she was unaware of the song selection. Kelly referred to the song as "a song that no artist wants to sing because you shouldn't." (After the insanely high standards set by Dolly and the late Whitney Houston, can you blame her for being intimated?).

But it's the second reason that's really heartbreaking. "I'm looking at Dolly Parton and I'm like, I had just gotten my text of like, 'Hey your divorce is final, like you've both signed.' Like, right before getting on a stage to sing 'I Will Always Love You.' I was like, 'Screw you, universe.' That's the timing?," Kelly revealed in her interview.

"You wanna go up on stage and be singing 'Since You've Been Gone' or something," Andy joked. Thankfully, the somber news didn't completely derail Kelly's performance, and she ended up putting on an amazing show.

Kelly went on to say that a sweet post-performance text from Chris Stapleton really turned her night around and had her "on cloud nine" for the rest of the week. He texted saying she killed the performance directly after the show. "I just made me feel really special that someone I admire, and have admired for years, even before he came on the scene in a big way... It just made me feel really good I don't think he even knows that," she revealed.

Kelly filed for divorce from her husband of seven years Brandon Blackstock in June of 2020. The divorce wasn't finalized until nearly two years later in March of 2022. The couple has two children together, River Rose (9) and Remington Alexander (7).
