Kelly Clarkson Just Gave Some Candid Quotes About Her Divorce From Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson isn't shying away from talking about her breakup from husband Brandon Blackstock, from whom she filed for divorce on June 4.

"I mean, it's no secret. My life has been a little bit of a dumpster,” she said during an interview on Sunday Today With Willie Geist. “Personally, it's been a little hard the last couple months.”

She continued, “I've been talking to friends that have been through divorce. I don't know how people go through that without having some kind of outlet because it is the worst thing ever for everyone involved.”

She also appeared on Today on Monday, September 14, and talked to Hoda Kotb about her divorce. “You can ask anyone that's gone through divorce, I don't think anyone expects it. You know, you see yourself growing old with someone and then life has a different path," she said. “And it's so hard on everyone. You know me, I'm really open so it just…I try to be open and share because we all go through things and can help each other not feel alone.”

Clarkson added, “But at the same time, we have four kids total together so that's a lot of hearts involved and you just have to be really careful. It's just a tricky thing to navigate and it's hard on everyone involved. It's just a really, really hard difficult thing.” She also said she was talking to friends about not understanding how you could go through something like this and not have an outlet, like music, to help you handle it. Clarkson said she's trying to be “truthful” but also maintain her and her family's privacy during this tough time.

Clarkson's new album will reflect all that she's been going through lately. “The whole record is basically every emotion you experience from the beginning of a relationship to the end of what it is now," she said. “It's been very therapeutic for me. It's very honest.”
