Kelly Clarkson had the most perfect response when someone mistook her for a seat filler at the ACM Awards
Kelly Clarkson is a star—to say the least. From being the first-ever American Idol to getting her own talk show, the singer is a veritable pop culture icon. But apparently, not everyone recognizes Clarkson. In fact, some poor soul mistook her for a seat-filler at the 2019 Academy of Country Music Awards. The singer handled the moment with total grace—and even laughed about it on Twitter.
She described it as “the greatest thing by far” that she experienced during the awards show in an April 8th tweet.

The pop star went on to declare that the debacle “made my night.” She concluded by clarifying that she “just politely said no” to the request to move, managing to stay in her seat.
The greatest thing by far that happened to me tonight was being asked to move because some guy thought I was a seat filler at the ACM’s tonight 🤣😂 #CantWinEmAll 💁🏼♀️ literally, it made my night because he was so serious, and I just politely said no hahaha!! pic.twitter.com/LuQDloKgR3

It seems all’s well that ends well—although we’re sure the person who made the mistake is pretty embarrassed right about now. Twitter users were amazed by the error.
Imagine being the guy who thought KELLY CLARKSON was a seat filler?! The 2nd hand embarrassment is real.

Others thought Clarkson should have taken advantage of the situation.
You should’ve started singing Mr. Know it all to him 🤣🤣

You should have said “Sorry sir I can’t I’m filling this seat for Kelly Clarkson, she should be here any minute.”

Clarkson performed not once, but twice at the 2019 ACM Awards. Billboard notes that she joined Jason Aldean for their duet “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” and she also sang a verse in Dan + Shay’s performance of their single “Keeping Score.”
That’s hilarious, you literally performed twice tonight 😂

We’re glad to see Clarkson crushing it—as always (whether everyone realizes it’s her or not).
