  • Contestants Carter Rubin and Chloé Hogan made coaches Kelly Clarkson and Gwen Stefani emotional during their recent knockout round performance.

  • Carter ended up advancing on Team Gwen, while coach John Legend stole Chloé for his own team.

The Voice coaches Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson experienced all the feels while watching a recent knockout round performance.

The emotions started getting intense when Team Gwen contestants Carter Rubin and Chloé Hogan took the stage on Monday night. Just as Carter was wrapping up his moving rendition of "You Say" by Lauren Daigle, the 14-year-old artist made Kelly choke up. From there, Chloé continued to wow both Kelly and Gwen with her powerful take on SWV's "Weak." By the end, Gwen was shouting from her seat that she was "gonna cry right now!"

Kelly also made it clear that she was on the verge of bursting into tears. "Carter, I thought my makeup artist was gonna have to come out here and fix everything that's happening to me right now," she explained. "That's like a finale performance. It broke me in the most amazing of ways. And I'm still, like, about to cry about it."

Even though Gwen would've kept both contestants if she could, host Carson Daly reminded the No Doubt singer that she could only choose one to advance. After agonizing a bit, Gwen ended up going with Carter. Seconds later, coach John Legend swooped in and used his one and only steal on Chloé.

"The universe knew that I was supposed to work with Chloe," John said about the newest member of his team. "She was just flawless and stylish and graceful. She's perfect for Team Legend."

Meanwhile, Voice viewers watching at home continued to praise both Carter and Chloé for giving performances of a lifetime. They also had nothing but great things to say about their coach, Gwen. "Gwen's coaching skills are on fire this season," one fan wrote in the comment section on YouTube. "Gwen's team is getting better and better every week. She deserves this so much!! ♥," another remarked. "Again Gwen proves how good she is as a coach. OMG, Gwen has to win this season," a different fan said.

Will Gwen be victorious with Carter on her team? Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure: more tear-jerking performances are guaranteed in the future with both Carter and Chloé left in the competition.
