Kelly Clarkson's putting a sour taste in fans' mouths.

On October 12, the former Voice coach gave a powerful rendition of Olivia Rodrigo's song "Traitor" off her hit debut album Sour. She sang the tune during The Kelly Clarkson Show's Kellyoke segment, a regular series of karaoke-style performances that have included iconic Céline Dion covers and more.

For this latest performance, blue stage lights set a somber mood as Kelly stood alone and wore a full-length black dress. Once the band kicked off the melody, the camera panned to the songstress who began the cover by singing softly and staring directly ahead.

About one minute in, Kelly croons the line about betrayal, "Guess you didn't cheat, but you're still a traitor," while the music and lights crescendo around her. She belts the rest of the song, with an electric guitar fueling her words.

Under a video of the moving performance posted on the show's official YouTube, fans of the American Idol winner rushed to the comments to share their support. "The emotion Kelly puts in this song is EVERYTHING!!" one fan said. "Look at her eyes and facial expressions. I [kind of] love angry Kelly," another added.

It certainly stirred up feelings for viewers, too, as some linked Kelly's song choice and emotional interpretation to her divorce from Brandon Blackstock. "Hits different knowing Kelly’s history," a different person commented. "She embodies every song she sings like she wrote it."

In fact, it's not the first nor last time Kelly's owned a cover. From Billie Eillish to The Weeknd, her audience-favorite performances were turned into an EP, titled Kellyoke. Her daytime show seems like a big hit, too, after Kelly revealed she's no longer on The Voice for season 22.

“I texted the other coaches and the executive producer and everyone and I was like, ‘I’m really sorry, you know, I gotta take a minute.’ And everybody understood it,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “They’ve been on this ride with me behind the scenes and they get it. Some have gone through similar situations.”

Most recently, she revealed that she'll be returning to the NBC competition show next year, but until then, the powerhouse singer will certainly continue moving us with her vocals.
