Kellie Pickler Breaks Down During a Performance on Her Talk Show

From Country Living

Kellie Pickler has always been open about the fact that she was raised by her grandparents after her mother abandoned her as a toddler. "When I was 2, my mother left me," she told People in a 2008 interview. "I remember going to different prisons with my grandparents to visit my father on weekends."

When Kellie was 15, she was dealt a devastating loss: "My grandmother, Faye Pickler, she's the one that raised me and the woman I called mom," Pickler told ABC News in a 2014 interview. "She was diagnosed with lung cancer back in January 2002 and she died the very next day, she died the very next morning."

Kellie, who now hosts the daytime talk show Pickler and Ben, performed a song she wrote honoring her grandmother on a recent episode. "She very much made me the woman I am today," she said.

Kellie got visibly emotional during the song, as did several members of the audience. "This is for everyone's grandmother," she said. Watch the moving performance below:
