Detective Rollins is coming home once again. Kelli Giddish is coming back to Law & Order: SVU for another appearance in Season 25, bringing fans one step closer to the dream of having her back full-time. Giddish left the show in Season 24, after Rollins and Carisi (Peter Scanavino) got married and her character decided to leave the police force and take a job as a professor. She first reprised her role for the Season 24 finale (as part of a three-way crossover event with Law & Order and Organized Crime) and then again for the Season 25 premiere, which kicked off with her new baby's christening.

Last we saw her on the show, Rollins was helping Olivia (Mariska Hargitay) with a tough case in a scene that made it clear that they both wanted to keep working together (as if there's anyone who doesn't want to see Rollins and Benson solving cases together again).

When will Kelli Giddish be back on Law & Order: SVU?

According to Deadline, Giddish will be back again for Episode 11, which should air sometime in April. The news of her return comes after some SVU fans circulated a casting call for SVU for a "photo double for main lead of show," a caucasian female with "blonde hair to the shoulders." Fans believed this casting call meant that Rollins was returning, and it now appears they were correct.

Giddish's exit was announced in August 2022, and Variety reported that it was a network decision meant to keep the show "current," and was not the choice of Giddish or showrunner David Graziano. It was also reported that Hargitay and at least one other producer tried to fight the decision.

SVU's Season 25 just aired Episode 7, titled "Probability of Doom." Benson and the squad faced a puzzling case involving a serial killer targeting child predators. It got particularly dark and heartbreaking when the murderer turned out to be a teenage girl who was trying to protect her sister and other young people only to discover that she kinda liked dismembering pedophiles. Benson struggled with having to put the girl in prison, but managed to track down a grandmother to take in the younger sister.

The storyline for Rollins' return hasn't yet been announced, but it's still at least four weeks away. In the meantime, Law & Order: SVU airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.
