Keke Palmer Just Celebrated Her Natural Hair Growth on Twitter
Going natural is an experience. Besides unlearning internalized anti-Black sentiments about your hair, it can also take time to figure out what products, styles, and even haircuts work for you. Regardless, there are always those little things in the natural-hair journey that are worth celebrating, like when you cut off those last relaxed ends or finally find a routine that works for you. For actor Keke Palmer, it's the sweet satisfaction of length retention.
The "Hustlers" star shared a video on June 16 of her new growth with the caption, "Hair is getting thick thick thick thick THICKKKK 😜." In the clip, she is lip-syncing to her new single "Thick" while touching and whipping her hair as she hangs out of the window of a car.
The actual song refers to her butt but the thickness she is praising in the video has everything to do with her natural texture. The star is glowing as she shakes her short, stretched-out Afro. Palmer has certainly come a long way from when she cut all her hair off three years ago.
In the spring of 2017, Palmer revealed that she'd done the big chop to get rid of her old heat damaged hair. Though she does love a good protective style, she has given us a few views of her natural hair over the past few years, and yes, baby, it's flourishing. We can't wait to see what more other hairstyles Palmer has in store, whether it's an expertly-layed wig, mile-long braids, or her kinks and coils stretching up to the sun.
