Keke Palmer Gets Real About Motherhood Struggles on Instagram

Keke Palmer gave single parents their flowers in a candid Instagram update.

The new mom shared a selfie video yesterday, days after she welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Leodis Andrellton Jackson, with boyfriend Darius Jackson. In the clip, the Nope star wears a gray and white striped top and square glasses with gray frames, as she shares her increased appreciation for single parents after becoming a mother herself.

"I just came on here to say, if you are a single parent, pull out your cape. Matter fact, clip your angel wings. Because I don't know how it is you did it," she says in the clip. "And I really don't want this to sound pander-y or something like this, because I know there are a million and one reasons why somebody wants to be a single parent or becomes a single parent. Maybe they lost somebody, maybe they don't want to deal with somebody, maybe it's a choice."

"But when it comes to raising a kid, I've already learned in these short few days that it takes a village. And sometimes that's a privilege," she adds. "And I just want anybody out there that's a single parent that's been doing this -- friends of mine, people that I don't know, family members of mine -- [know that] I really am, in my heart -- it brings tears to my eyes. I am just truly, profoundly impressed."

She captioned the video, "I ain’t gon' lie, I’m gettin' COOKED!"

The star shared the news of her son's birth on her Instagram last Tuesday, with a carousel of the first photos and videos of her newborn, as well as pics of her and Jackson looking happy together as new parents.

In one clip, Jackson is seen cradling their baby boy in the hospital delivery room while Palmer lies in the hospital bed. And in a photo, Jackson is seen leaning over Palmer and their child, sweetly holding her head and smiling.

The last slide is a photo of baby Leo wearing a gray onesie and a white beanie, looking cozy while wrapped in blankets and napping on a bed.
