Keira Knightley Wears Chanel Couture to Receive an OBE

The actress and humanitarian deserves an award for her stunning Chanel ensemble alone.

Keira Knightley has been nominated for two Academy Awards and raised money for Oxfam and WaterAid over her 12-year career as an actress. For that, she received an Order of the British Empire from Prince Charles today at Buckingham Palace. But, listen, if I was in charge, I would have given her a royal order for her outfit alone. A longtime spokeswoman for Chanel, Knightley chose to wear a beige suit from the brand’s Spring 2017 couture collection to the ceremony. With a structured peplum, patent leather rose gold belt, and tiny black bow at the collar, this is certainly one of the more directional looks to have an OBE pinned to its lapel.

To really elevate the already posh ensemble, Knightley and her stylist Leith Clark chose to top it off with a tweed boater hat from the same couture collection. Few could pull off a tiny hat, jauntily balanced at the back of one’s head, as successfully as Knightley did this morning. With her hair styled in soft waves and subtle natural makeup by Lisa Eldridge, she looked ready for a photoshoot—unsurprisingly the photos of Knightley outside the palace are truly cover-worthy. As Karl Lagerfeld said of his Couture collection at the time of its show, “I wanted something impeccable, clean. I wanted the girls to look like walking fashion drawings.” I’d say Knightley nailed it.
