How to keep up with your mental health this May

TOPEKA (KSNT) – May is a time to be aware that mental health assistance is readily available in Kansas.

27 News spoke with Drew Adkins, the state’s commissioner of Behavioral Health Services, about why mental health awareness is important this month.

“So, the individuals know where to get help,” Adkins said. “Particularly those that may not have insurance or may be underinsured and may not have the resources or the time.”

The 988 hotline was launched two years ago to help people who are having a mental health crisis. If you are struggling, you can seek further assistance from one of the 26 mental health centers located in Kansas or the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services (KDADS).
