Keegan Allen Asked "Pretty Little Liars" Fans to Rewrite Spencer and Toby's Ending

For seven long seasons, the cast of Freeform’s hit series Pretty Little Liars gave fans all the drama, plot-twists and romance they could ask for. And although it’s been over a year since the finale revealed the identity of Uber "A" — AKA Spencer Hastings’s twin sister — one question is still being asked: Did Spencer and Toby Cavanaugh end up getting married?

At the end of the finale, as the five Rosewood gals gathered in the city square for the last time, it was revealed that Toby was staying in town, and it was insinuated that Spoby would stay together. But we never got a last kiss between the two, making fans understandably hungry for more romance between the popular ship. Now, Keegan Allen, who played Toby, has asked viewers how they would rewrite the couple’s ending — and it’s safe to say the PLL army has some good ideas.

On Saturday, September 15, Keegan took to Instagram to share a throwback picture of Toby and Spencer in a heart-warming embrace, captioning it: “How would you have written the #spobyending?”

And, as expected, fans did not hold back.

One fan wished that Spoby was together — and out of harm’s way for good — commenting: “They are married, happy, by choice of them, no one needs to die for this to happen, living together.” Another user suggested: “They come back together and have a beautiful family.” Others expressed their dreams of seeing Spencer and Toby traveling the world together, ending up in Paris and living their best lives.

There’s no question whether or not Spoby ended up together, especially since the series’ showrunner, I. Marlene King, took to Twitter after the finale aired to set minds at ease. She wrote, “But really, given the story, it would have been false and rushed. Spoby is together but they needed some time and breath. That's my truth.”

Still, though, it would have been nice to see Spencer and Toby have one final, jaw-dropping kiss on the show. Maybe they’ll make an appearance in the upcoming spinoff The Perfectionists? Only time will tell.
