Keanu Reeves Shreds on the Bass Onstage as Band Gears Up for Tour

Keanu Reeves is returning to his other gig: music.

The John Wick star's alternative rock band Dogstar, which announced their reunion after nearly 21 years apart earlier this year, played their first headlining concert since getting back together at Los Angeles venue The Roxy on July 18. The intimate show was unsurprisingly sold out within minutes of being announced, treating fans to a 90-minute set.

Dogstar previewed their first new material since 2000 album Happy Ending, announcing on the following day that they're gearing up for the release of comeback record Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees on October 6 and are heading on tour in support of it.

And footage of the epic reunion, as seen below, proved that Reeves can also add rock star to his already impressive resume!

The tour, which kicks off on August 10, makes stops in Japan and North America, including cities Denver, Phoenix, Chicago, Detroit, Brooklyn, Charlotte, Nashville, Atlanta, San Francisco, DC, Los Angeles, and Salt Lake City. Those who didn't get a chance to see Reeves on bass at the Dogstar show can now try their luck at seeing the Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure star shred onstage in their city, with tickets going on sale Friday, July 21 at 10 a.m. local time.

To celebrate the announcement of this fresh era, Dogstar released song "Everything Turns Around," with an accompanying music video that features Reeves in his now-signature outfit: a black blazer over a black tee with matching pants.

"We couldn’t think of a better song to re-introduce Dogstar than 'Everything Turns Around' and hope everyone loves it as much as we do. It's catchy and poppy, has a chorus that rocks, a bridge with an indie sensibility and is completed with lyrics that tell an honest yet uplifting story," Dogstar said in a statement. "It's one of our favorite songs to play live and we can’t wait to take it out on the road."

Dogstar formed in 1991, announcing their breakup in late 2002. Their first performance since reuniting was at the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival in May 2023.
