Keanu Reeves Opened Up About the Possibility of Joining the MCU

The Matrix and John Wick icon Keanu Reeves would happily board the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Since its inception almost 14 years ago, with the first Iron Man, this superhero machine has inducted numerous Hall of Famers into its sprawling cast – Benecio Del Toro, Jeff Bridges, Jeff Goldblum, Glenn Close and Jude Law to name a few – but Reeves is still waiting for the call.
For the Esquire video series 'Explain This', he was asked if he'd be interested in getting involved sometime in the future.

"You know, it would be an honor," he commented.
"There's some really amazing directors and visionaries [working within the MCU] and you know, they're doing something no-one's really ever done. It's special in that sense, in terms of scale, the ambition, the production, so it'd be really cool to be a part of that."
Circling back around to The Matrix universe, director Lana Wachowski previously explained what inspired her to bring back Neo (Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) for this year's fourth entry Resurrections.
"My brain has always reached into my imagination and one night, I was crying and I couldn't sleep, and suddenly my brain exploded this whole story," she recalled of the time she was grieving the loss of her parents.

"And I couldn't have my mom and dad, I couldn't talk to my mom, yet suddenly I had Neo and Trinity, arguably the two most important characters in my life. It was immediately comforting to have these two characters again.
"This is what art does, this is what stories do. They comfort us, and they're important. I was very non-judgmental for myself. But it was so comforting that they were back in my life."
