Katy Perry's Alien Chrome Manicure Is Out-of This-World

As are her chromed-out antennas.

Very few people in the music industry are as consistently camp as Katy Perry. Ever since her whipped cream bra in the “California Girls" video, she's constantly been finding new ways to dress outside the box. Need proof? Look no further than her dollhouse-inspired Las Vegas residency, the hamburger dress she wore to the Met Gala, and her most recent intergalactic look.

On January 22, Perry posted a photo dump on Instagram showing off the “spaced out and starry-eyed” look she wore to reportedly attend Jeff Bezos’ 60th birthday party with a theme honoring his space exploration company, Blue Origins. So, naturally, Perry donned her alien best for the occasion.

The entire ensemble was a full E.T. moment. The makeup was central to this otherworldly transformation. First, our eyes were drawn to the life-like antennas shooting out from her forehead. Perfectly in line with her eyes, there were flesh-colored stems sticking out of her skin with a purple chrome finish at the tips. She brought that same purple finish down to her eyes, blending the high-shine, reflective, metallic shadow from her inner corner to her brows and out to her pointy elf-like ears—dusting it inside her lobes and even onto her shoulders. Long, fluttery lashes and pink lips finished off the glam. Then, she brought the shimmer to her nails.

In a similar chrome color to the one bringing her alien face alive, her nails were each coated with a pearlescent, chrome finish, much like the tips of antennas. Each of Perry’s nails matched with the same short almond shape. As for color, the nails had a base of near-flesh color. Pretty similar to the shade of her skin, they were each dusted with a highly reflective iridescent finish with undertones of lavender and pink. 

As for the rest of the outfit, Perry completed the cosmic costume with an out-of-this-world dress. Equal parts structured and flowy, the base of the look was a tight-fitting rhinestone corset. Then, wrapped around it was a pleated fabric forming a skirt and shoulder straps, creating a peacock-like frame in the back of her outfit. She finished off the moment with some silver heels and some rings. Also, of course, with her husband Orlando Bloom wearing coordinating elf ears.
