Katy Perry Finally Weighs in on Those Jennifer Aniston Godmother Rumors
Remember last week when we reported that Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom had potentially asked Jennifer Aniston to be the godmother of their soon-to-be-born baby girl? Well, as it turns out, that was just a rumor.
During a recent virtual visit on KIIS1065′s Kyle and Jackie O show, Perry opened up about the reports.
“She [Jen] texted us, because we are friendly with her and Orlando is one of her good friends, and we were like, ‘Wow! This is a wild rumor,’” she said. “I mean, God knows, she’s, you know, with her, she’s had everything said about her. But I guess this is a fun rumor. But no, we have no idea where it came from. But, you know, that is the product of the media and the internet. You should definitely believe everything that you read.”
The Daily Mirror first reported that the two famous women have built quite the relationship during Perry’s pregnancy.
"Katy and Jen are very close. During lockdown they went for socially-distanced walks, and spent lots of time catching up," a source told the publication. Per the outlet, the 35-year-old singer and the 43-year-old actor wept during the now-debunked godmother ask and Aniston was equally as emotional. “She is pretty chuffed about it as well and cried when they asked her.”
Since these reports were just that—reports—we can think of a few other famous pals who might also be good candidates for the baby’s godmother, including model (and Bloom’s ex) Miranda Kerr as well as BFF-turned-frenemy-turned-close-bud Taylor Swift.
We first learned about the pregnancy news back in March when Perry released her “Never Worn White” music video. The footage shows Perry dressed in all-white as she cradles her stomach and sings, “See us in sixty years with a full family tree (I do).”
The "Never Really Over" singer got engaged to Bloom on Valentine’s Day last year after dating on and off for two years. This will be their first child together (with Bloom already a father to 9-year-old Flynn).
Now we just need to know who the real godmother is.
