Katy Perry Says Orlando Bloom Is Giving Her Space During Quarantine

Katy Perry and fiancé Orlando Bloom have always been refreshingly candid about their relationship, especially since news broke that Perry is pregnant with their first child together. (Bloom also shares a nine-year-old son with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.) And Perry keeps that honesty going in a new interview, with Cosmopolitan, published on May 8. In it, the American Idol judge shared how Bloom is respecting her boundaries while they quarantine together. "He’s being very sensitive knowing that we’re not only in quarantine, but we’re doing it while pregnant," she said. "He’s also doing a lot of pro-style cycling for a couple hours a day, so that gives me my space."

This is one of several candid quotes the couple has given recently. Back in March, Perry told her American Idol coworker Ryan Seacrest about "friction" between her and Bloom.

“There’s a lot of friction between my partner and I, but that friction breeds something beautiful. It can breed a lot of light," the singer said during an On Air With Ryan Seacrest interview. “It’s just one of those relationships. I don’t know about anyone else that’s listening, whatever kind of relationship they’ve had—and I’ve had many—but it’s like we basically, we get down to the mat and come back up every time.”

That same month Bloom shared that he'd been celibate for six months before meeting Perry. "I wasn't happy," he told the Sunday Times. That's when his friend and professional surfer Laird Hamilton doled out the same relationship advice given to all the contestants on Too Hot to Handle. "Laird said, 'If you want to be serious about a relationship, go celibate for a few months and figure it out,'" Bloom said.

Bloom went on to discuss his feelings about starting a family with Perry and their future baby girl. "This kind of joy isn't something you can put into words—or really wrap your head around," the Pirates of the Caribbean actor said. "Obviously, we've known for a long time before going public. As you can imagine, it's such an incredibly precious, private, yet commonplace moment to be sharing with the world."

You truly must respect their healthy, independent energy. Keep the relationship advice coming, you guys!
