Katy Perry Pays Tribute to Her Late Grandma with Emotional Instagram Post

Just days after announcing her pregnancy to the world, Katy Perry has taken to social media to share another heartwarming moment — this time, involving her grandmother, Ann Pearl Hudson, who passed away on Sunday (March 8).

On March 9, Katy took to Instagram to share with fans the exact moment she told her grandma she was pregnant. “Grandma, it’s Katy. I just wanted to tell you, I know you’re not feeling well but I wanted to share some exciting news with you,” Katy tells her bedridden grandma (who is mostly out of the shot) in the emotional video. “I’m gonna have a baby. I’m pregnant, grandma! Katy is finally pregnant. She’s the last one but I have a baby inside me and I wanted to tell that to you.”

Alongside the heart-stringing video, Katy also shared multiple snapshots that capture various memories with her grandmother — from birthday shots to meetings with fiancé Orlando Bloom and even Barack Obama. Katy accompanied her visual tribute with a long, heartfelt to her grandmother.

“I don’t know when a soul enters a new vehicle but if there is an afterlife where there’s a waiting room of the coming and going my mind wonders if the soul that is waiting to come into my world is getting a kiss on the forehead from my sweet Grandma that departed this earth yesterday. My heart hopes so,” Katy wrote. “Family... is there to show us what love can be... sometimes that journey of finding the love is tough to get to AND through but if you can open your heart and let the light lead the way you will find that incomparable love.”

“Ann Pearl Hudson was a fighter. She survived the Great Depression, raised 3 kids on her own as a seamstress, making G strings for showgirls and other such characters in Vegas,” she continued, later likening her own qualities to her grandma's.

Celebs including Demi Lovato, Kris Jenner, and even Orlando himself left messages of encouragement for both Katy and Ann under in the comments. “Ann has A LOT to answer for!! And thankfully it’s all as beautiful as her soul which will be back in the blink of [an] eye, and all will be OK. I can walk a chalk line - in American English - Informal, to behave with strict propriety or obedience - for grandma any day,” Orlando commented, referring to one of the quipping clips Katy chose to share.
