Katy Perry recounted her own version of one of 2019's biggest stories: she and her frenemy Taylor Swift ending their years-long feud and making their back-on friendship music-video official. And Perry gave a lot more specific detail on when everything happened. It turns out the reunion really picked up steam at one of this year's Oscars after party. (Perry and Bloom were photographed arriving at Jay-Z and Beyoncé's Oscars party on February 24, and Bloom was at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party solo. Swift went to the Vanity Fair Oscar after party with her boyfriend Joe Alwyn, although the couple could've gone to other parties, like Jay-Z and Beyoncé's ultra exclusive and private one, too.)

Perry spoke on Australia's Kyle and Jackie O Show radio show, where she was asked how she and Swift healed. It was a gradual thing, Perry started.

Well, it kind of was a process. I sent her a literal olive branch and a note apologizing for my part in all of it when she started her Reputation tour [which started on May 8, 2018]. I just thought you know, she was about to embark on something new and big and needed the support. And truly it was like as I was finishing mine [Perry's Witness tour, which ended on August 21, 2018], how much we have in common, and maybe there’s only five other people in the world that can have the same type of conversations and understand where we’re coming from and that we should celebrate our commonality and our friendship and be able to be there for each other.

Then they started seeing each other at events, Perry continued:

So after that, there was some time in between, but I started seeing her around at different [events], like the Oscars party, when she was accompanying her boyfriend [The Favourite actor Joe Alwyn], and I just went up to her and I was like, "Hey, it's been a long time and I think we've grown up a little bit, and I just wanted to say I'm sorry and I'm really here for you, and that I love you, and you know, I hope that we can be friends in the future." And so we started talking a little bit and trusting each other because it’s about trusting. And she got my number and we started texting, and she had this really cool idea [Perry appearing in the "You Need to Calm Down" music video] and I said yeah, let’s talk about it, and she invited me over to her house and she made me some cookies, and she actually makes those cookies, and they are actually so delicious. And I brought them home.

Perry is referring to the cookies that Perry posted on her Instagram shortly before Swift released the music video they appeared in together.

Perry believes that their reconciliation sends a good and important message to their fans: "I think that both her and I, we have influence to young people and especially young girls who are in this type of situation day in and day out."

Swift shared her side of their reconciliation story last month. A lot of the same details were there, although Swift didn't say which specific parties they reconnected at.

"We saw each other at a party and walked up to each other and hugged it out and talked about things, and then we saw each other again and hung out at another party, and it was just like something felt so much lighter about my life when things became really good between us," Swift told Capital Breakfast in June. "And, you know, she and I have been fine for a while and really on good terms, but we didn't know if we were ever gonna really tell people about it. We wanted to make sure that was solid between us before we ever made the public aware."
