Katy Perry's Hair and Makeup for the VMAs Is Extremely "Cool Mom"
Tonight is Katy Perry's party and everyone else can take a number. While the hostess is known for really extra looks on the red carpet, you can imagine what the singer will do when given free reign to deliver.
Well. So far, Perry went with this really pretty shimmery mauve makeup situation — glowing up around a bold black cat-eye. I've got to say, maybe it's the highlight underneath her brow bone or just the overall composition of the pixie cut overhead, but Katy's brows are looking sharp. Sure, normally you'd notice the sharp precision of a perfect winged liner look but honestly brow tails are way underrated in that department. Now you'll never not think about this!

I guess the cool thing about a pixie cut is that it looks red carpet-ready pretty much whenever, so the piece-y ruffled texture makes the look more punk than glam (not a bad thing!) — not to mention pixie cuts are excellent for showing off statement earrings, as you can see.
The whole ensemble above the shoulders reads to me like a cool mom who's actually cooler than her teenage daughter. She's confident as heck, she wears outfits with bold shoulders and bold earrings, she doesn't give a fuck about having mermaid hair and she wears as many goddamn layers of false lashes as she damn well pleases!
Personally, I'm about this gold trench coat but hey, there are outfits for Instagram promo about a night of many looks and then there is the beginning of many looks to come!
