Jennifer Lopez and Kylie Jenner are huge fans.

I had a phase where I only wore neutral colors; think cream, beige, black, and brown. There’s a time and a place for staple hues — just look at Reese Witherspoon’s classic slip dress or Dakota Johnson’s unfussy shoes for proof — but I quickly realized that color is what makes fashion so fun. It commands attention and sets you apart from the crowd whether you’re donning this season’s hot chili red or last fall’s lemon yellow. And Katie Holmes added her own color twist by reaching for the ‘It’ hue I forgot about.

Holmes attended the Prada makeup and skincare launch party in Brooklyn during New York Fashion Week. Decked out in the label, she wore a cozy cardigan, trapezoidal handbag, and slingback pumps. Her lime green slip skirt was a blast from the past, calling on last year’s go-to shade.

We first saw this color pop off during Victoria Beckham’s Spring 2023 collection, and celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Jenner, Rita Ora, and Mariah Carey quickly jumped on board. Now, we officially have the green light (no pun intended) to keep wearing this grassy shade.

This $29 Modegal option encapsulates Holmes’ skirt to a T, including a satin material, flared fit, and midi length. You can recreate her look with ease, while a high, elastic waist adds comfort. Shoppers even call it “flattering,” “perfect,” and “beautiful,” and I’d have to agree.

Ser.o.ya’s Penina skirt adds a sexy touch to the OG look thanks to a hip strap featuring a gold-tone logo. Further features include a straight silhouette, hidden zipper closure, and flowy silk. Even sweeter, it’s 50 percent off.

Muted versions of Holmes’ skirt, like this $28 Cylamen find, work just as well. It boasts the same staple elements while leaning into a low-key color palette. Reformation’s Layla silk separate does the same, though offers a version that sits low on the hips and is available in standard, petite, and plus sizes.

Styling your kiwi-colored skirt is easier than you think. Pair it with a coordinating top from Nordstrom for a monochromatic moment that steals the show, or tone it down with soft colors such as khaki or gray. I also love a good pink and green moment, while gold jewelry brings out the hidden yellow tones.

If Holmes has shown us anything, it’s that this color knows no season, so wear it all year long no matter the weather. Layering and accessories, like scarfs, fuzzy bucket hats, and printed tights, are what make it transitional, so take advantage of its versatility.
