Katie Holmes Goes Casual in a Shirt Dress, Messy Hair, and No Makeup

Katie Holmes is sticking to simplicity and comfort this summer.

The Coda star attended the opening party for Christian Siriano's new store, The Collective West, this Tuesday in a cool and casual outfit.

Holmes showed up to the event in Westport, Connecticut, in an oversized white shirt dress with flared sleeves. She finished the minimalistic look with white thong sandal heels with black straps—which she tied around her ankles—and Siriano's black leather triangle bag.

The actress sported a bright red mani-pedi, but otherwise seemed to wear no makeup for the outing, and kept her wavy hair in a messy, loose 'do.

Holmes posed with Siriano at the event. The designer teased the store's opening in an Instagram video last week. "New store in Westport Connecticut coming soon!!! This space is really so magical and I can’t wait for you all to come shop and enjoy it! XxCS," he wrote in the caption.

Holmes has been showing off her low-key fashion as of late. Last month, she attended the premiere for Alone Together at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival with boyfriend Bobby Wooten III wearing a crochet ivory tank and matching long flared skirt from Chloé's pre-fall 2022 collection. She completed the look with classic accessories including a chunky gold chain necklace, gold bracelet, and tan leather clutch embellished with braided details, also from Chloé.

A month prior, she celebrated the grand opening of Mango's flagship store on New York City's Fifth Avenue with a dinner at Balthazar, to which she wore a white backless knit crop top with black wide-leg pants. On a different outing in May, while riding bikes with her new man, she opted for a comfy green raincoat and loose blue trousers.

In a talk with BAZAAR.com a few weeks ago, Holmes described her style as "pretty simple" and said that when she's not at a big Hollywood premiere, she prefers to just hang out in pants and a T-shirt. "I love my T-shirts, and I love my vintage T-shirts. They're so yummy. They're a little dirty, a little stained or whatever, and that's me," she said.
