Katie Holmes Celebrates Suri's 12th Birthday

Katie Holmes is celebrating Suri Cruise's 12th birthday by sharing a rare photo of her daughter on Instagram.

In the photo, Suri is wearing a silver crown that says "Happy Birthday" on it, looking slightly embarrassed that her mom is capturing the moment on camera. It's rare for Holmes to share photos of her daughter on social media, but she made an exception for the momentous occasion:

Suri, who usually keeps a low profile, made a public appearance in December 2017, to introduce Taylor Swift's performance at the iHeartRadio New York Jingle Ball, along with Holmes.

Holmes spoke to Town & Country in February 2017 about the difficulties she faced raising her daughter in the media spotlight, especially as Suri's dad, Tom Cruise, is also famous. With rumors about her parents constantly circulating, Suri already has a lot of misinformation to tackle, and Holmes explained:

"In today's world, a lot of celebrities probably shield their children from the tabloids. In my household, we know what they print isn't true, so we don't pay attention. There are more important things."

Holmes continued:

"My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now. It's very important that I'm present and she has a stable, innocent childhood. I feel so blessed to do what I do, but there's nothing in the world better than watching your child succeed."
