Katie Couric has some big news: She’s going to be a grandma! The veteran journalist has apparently been keeping this secret for a while, but finally got to share the update with her fans via an adorable video she posted to Instagram that shows the moment her daughters told her.

Couric first learned the news that her 32-year-old daughter Ellie Monahan is expected right before she and her daughters were set to attend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour earlier this year. Before heading to the concert, the trio took part in one of the tour’s most beloved traditions: trading friendship bracelets. And that’s how Ellie and Couric’s other daughter, Carrie, let their mom know the big secret.

In the video, Carrie hands Couric a bracelet and she reads the beads on it, which spell out “Granny to be.” She looks confused for a minute, trying to figure out what they mean, before Ellie says, “I’m pregnant,” and her eyes go wide.

“You are?!” Couric says. “Wow!”

Her daughters ask if she’s “freaking out,” and laughing, Couric responds, “No.” It’s a sweet family moment that they must be thrilled to have captured to remember and share.

In the caption, Couric wrote, “Been dying to tell you. This is what happens when you go to a @taylorswift concert last summer and forget your friendship bracelet and your daughters say, ‘Don’t worry, we made one for you!'”

Back in August, Couric posted about attending the concert with her daughters, including a sweet photo of the three of them. She managed to hide the big news well, giving no indication that she was keeping a big secret.

“This was a once in a lifetime experience I’m so glad I got to share with my girls who each have a PhD in Swiftology,” she wrote at the time. “They know every word to every song and every designer Taylor was wearing. We felt so lucky to experience this together.”
