Kathryn Hahn is a criminally underrated actress — but she deserves her flowers! She should have received awards for I Love Dick, Glass Onion, and Step Brothers, to name just a few. Thankfully she finally received recognition at the 2023 Emmys for her role in Tiny Beautiful Things. My grudges against the powers that be aside, her complexion was glowing on the red carpet due in part to Augustinus Bader’s The Face Oil.

Celebrity facialist, Lord Gavin McLeod Valentine prepped the actress' skin for her big night with an array of the Sharon Stone-used brand’s products. You could close your eyes and pick something shopper and/or celebrity-loved, but The Face Oil is what stands out to me. According to the brand, Valentine applied the oil while massaging Hahn’s face to encourage blood flow and active muscles which helps with facial definition.

The formula includes moisturizing babassu, argan, and hazelnut oils which supplement the brand’s proprietary golden child ingredient, Trigger Factor Complex 8 (TFC8). There is a lot of goodness wrapped into the oil blend so I’ll make it (relatively) succinct. Babassu oil has anti-inflammatory, acne-fighting, and skin-repairing benefits. Argan oil makes skin more elastic, soothes irritation, reverses sun damage, and (counterintuitively) makes skin less oily. Hazelnut oil prevents the breakdown of collagen and may fade scars and discoloration. And on to the star, TFC8 — it’s a 40-ingredient complex that includes amino acids, vitamins, and antioxidants. Per the brand, TFC8 makes your skin renegade faster and more effectively.

Science talk aside, does it work? A Blue Mercury reviewer in their 60s called the results “remarkable.” “It lessened the wrinkles in my skin and I've noticed a lifted effect in the chin area.” Another reviewer on the Augustinus Bader website said they are seeing “great results with firmness” on their face and neck.
