Kate Middleton attended the 2023 National Service of Remembrance at The Cenotaph in London on Sunday, November 12th, in honor of the British troops who fought in both world wars. And despite wearing a muted black outfit to not pull focus during the solemn event, royal fans couldn’t help but be dazzled by the ever-stylish royal‘s statement earrings, which she had seemingly never worn before.

The Princess of Wales, 41, wore a black military-inspired Catherine Walker coatdress for the occasion, which she had previously worn at the same service back in 2019. She finished off the outfit with a matching Philip Treacy wide-brimmed hat with intricate loop detailing on top, as well as black bow-detail gloves, a red poppy, and her Royal Air Force pins.

The mom-of-three's hair was worn in an intricate low voluminous bun to accommodate her headwear – but we think we know another reason why she opted for that hairstyle. We think the Princess of Wales decided to wear her hair up in order to show off her gorgeous statement pearl earrings, which appeared to have been inspired by a diamond and pearl brooch famously worn and loved by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Kate reportedly also wore the brooch to a service commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele in Belgium back in 2017, which the internet believes was loaned to her by her grandmother-in-law. She also wore it more recently last fall, while attending a service at Westminster Hall following the procession of the late Queen's coffin. To make matters more interesting, there is also speculation online that the brooch and earrings could very possibly be the same piece of jewelry, as neither of them have been worn at the same time.

According to The Court Jeweller: "The earrings appear to be part of the same suite that includes the late monarch's Diamond and Pearl Leaf Brooch, notably worn by her in South Korea on her birthday in 1999. It's possible that the earrings are either separate pieces that match the brooch, or two detachable leaves from the brooch itself. (As Kate has previously worn the stem of the brooch with a trio of paper poppies, I'm leaning toward the latter.)"

That's not the only time the Princess of Wales paid tribute to the late monarch. Just one day previously while attending the annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, she wore a chic long-sleeved Emilia Wickstead 'Jorgie' ruched crepe dress and elevated it with the late Queen's stunning three-strand pearl necklace, as well as her diamond and pearl drop earrings.

The earrings were reportedly a wedding gift to the late Queen Elizabeth back in 1947, with the Princess of Wales wearing them around 10 times since 2016. She wore them for the first time during Remembrance Sunday in 2016.
