From Town & Country

This weekend, Prince William and Kate Middleton's official Instagram page shared a video of Kate answering fans' questions about early years, an area that the Duchess has spent years learning about and advocating for. And for just a quick moment, she revealed her phone screen—in turn sharing her most-used emojis, which, thanks to the miracle of technology, had been aggregated and made easily accessible at the bottom of her screen.

Granted, this is assuming that Kate used her own phone in the video, as royal reporter Chris Ship pointed out on Twitter. But it's fun to speculate regardless, particularly given that many of these emojis aren't the ones most would associate with the Duchess of Cambridge. A crown, perhaps? Or a queen? A Buckingham Palace guard (yes, they have that one)? Nope: the red swearing face and "alien invader" rank on top. (Granted, it's a little hard to make these out, but those two certainly appear to be among Kate's favorites.)

But for the Duchess, of course, the point of the video wasn't to offer royal watchers insight into her emoji use. Rather, it was a clever way of teaching fans about the importance of early years in a child's life, and getting fans to engage with the recently-revealed results of her nationwide study into the subject, her 5 Big Questions survey. "The early years are not simply about how we raise our children," Kate said in a speech last week. "They are in fact about how we raise the next generation of adults. They are about the society we will become."
