Who Is Kate Middleton's Ex-Boyfriend Rupert Finch?

As shown in The Crown season six, before Kate Middleton and Kate Middleton and Prince William get together, Kate starts dating a different classmate: Rupert Finch, who was three years ahead of her at school.

Unlike Lola Airdale-Cavendish-Kincaid, the girl William dates in the royal drama, Rupert is a real person, and he dated Kate in 2001. Finch has never spoken about his history with the Princess of Wales, saying in 2006, "It's not something I'll ever talk about. It's between Kate and me and was a long time ago."

Kate and Rupert met at St. Andrews

According to Tatler, "at the time of the fashion show, he was reportedly her casual boyfriend and a tall, dark and handsome aspiring lawyer in his fourth year at St Andrews." They were together in 2001, and their brief fling is depicted in The Crown, where Rupert is played by actor Oli Green.

He attended Kate and William's wedding.

Rupert was among the guests invited to the royal wedding in 2011, showing that the exes stayed friendly after their break-up.

Rupert Finch and Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs tied the knot in June 2013 at St John the Baptist in Cirencester, England.

He's a dad of three.

Rupert and Natasha have three daughters: Georgia, born 2015, Cienna, born 2017, and India Grace Albertine, born 2020. "I'm one of three children myself," Natasha told Hello! after welcoming India. "I definitely think three is enough and Rupert would agree. But who knows? It's such a blessing to be able to have three."

Rupert is a lawyer, who works at Williams Advanced Engineering, and Natasha co-founded Beulah London.

According to his LinkedIn, he is an "experienced lawyer with a demonstrated history of working in the advance materials, chemicals, automotive, battery, fuel cell, life science and medical components sectors. Skilled in general commercial/contractual law, legal compliance, IP, corporate law and product liability. Graduated in History from St Andrews University and in Law from The College of Law Guildford (now the University of Law). Additional experience and exposure to social impact businesses in the luxury retail sector."

His wife, Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs, co-founded Beulah London, a fashion brand that Kate has worn frequently. "It’s always lovely to see the Duchess in Beulah," Natasha said in 2020, speaking about Kate, the then-Duchess of Cambridge. "She’s a wonderful ambassador for British brands and that is more important than ever at the moment."
