Eagle-eyed fans will have spotted Duchess Kate's unusual poppy brooch, which she wore to the Remembrance Sunday memorial service at the Cenotaph in London.

The Duchess of Cambridge selected the Codebreakers poppy brooch to wear on the important occasion because of a personal connection. According to the Daily Mail, Kate's grandmother, Valerie Glassborow, worked in signal intelligence at Bletchley Park behind the scenes to decipher enemy messages.

Per the official Poppy Shop website, "Each elegant brooch comes with a certificate to remember one of the 13,000 men and women on the Bletchley Park Roll of Honour and is presented in a keepsake box." This is the first time we've seen Kate wear this particular brooch, as it was released earlier this year. Plus, it's especially heartwarming that the duchess was able to pay tribute to her grandmother by wearing it.

Just last week, it was rumored that Kate may be venturing into TV, following a meeting with the BBC. Per Richard Eden, the Daily Mail's royal correspondent, "Kate held private talks with BBC director-general Tony Hall at Broadcasting House in London on Thursday." Eden continued, "Kensington Palace points out that the Duchess met Lord Hall in her capacity as patron of the Royal Foundation, so any project would be for charity."
