Kate Middleton's brother James has often spoken about how his dogs helped him cope with his depression, in the hopes that other people, struggling with their own mental health issues, might benefit from hearing his story. Now, he's turning the spotlight on the dogs.

In a video on Instagram, James Middleton announced that he's joining forces with the Kennel Club U.K. and the dog show it organizes, Crufts, to give good dogs the honor they deserve.

"I have spoken publicly about the positive impact dogs have had in my life," he begins, sharing a couch with two of his five dogs. "Now, I want to hear your stories... I want to celebrate unsung canine heroes, who deserve to be recognized for the amazing impact they have on their owners’ lives."

James goes on to invite his fans to submit deserving doggies to the Kennel Club's "Friends for Life" competition, in one of five categories (those being "extraordinary life of a working dog," "hero support dog," "best friends," "child's companion," and "rescue dog hero"). In the caption, he adds that he'll be reading all of the submitted stories, and meeting the finalists at Crufts 2020.

For his part, James isn't shy about celebrating his dogs (or his "pack," as he often refers to them on Instagram). Earlier this month, he even brought one of his canine children as his date to an awards ceremony, hitting the red carpet with her in tow. "I think I should win the award for the best date," he wrote. (Indeed, he should.) .
