Kate Middleton wears Peter Pan collar blouse for virtual call to mark Remembrance week
The Duchess of Cambridge has reaffirmed her status as a stylish royal by wearing one of this season's most popular fashion trends: the Peter Pan collar.
In her latest virtual appearance, Kate hosted a video call, speaking with the families of those in the British Armed Forces who have lost loved ones to honour Remembrance Week.
For the virtual engagement, the duchess wore a vintage-inspired satin ivory button-down blouse with ruched shoulders and a contrasting scalloped Peter Pan–style collar.
The top, called the Boo Blouse, comes courtesy of Ghost London and costs £79. However, it is currently sold out on the fashion retailer’s website and John Lewis.
Kate also pinned a single commemorative poppy to her collar – a symbol of remembrance and hope for a peaceful future, which has been worn as a show of support for the Armed Forces community since 1921.
The royal paired the satin blouse with tailored black trousers and a pair of pearl drop earrings.
During the video call, Kate listened to the stories of those who had lost family members and recognised the bravery and sacrifice their loved ones made.
“It's been a real honour to speak to all of you, and I think I speak for the whole nation when I say just how proud you should be of your loved ones and for the sacrifice and the bravery that they've shown,” she said.
“I'll certainly be thinking of you this difficult week and will be for many years to come.”
Kensington Palace shared a clip of the call to Instagram, alongside a caption which read: “The @RoyalBritishLegion provides lifelong support to anyone who has served with the British Armed Forces and their families. The Duchess of Cambridge spoke to Armed Forces families who have lost loved ones to hear about the impact that #Remembrance week has for them.”
“Together they spoke about the support that they receive from members of the Armed Forces community, including other bereaved families, and from the Royal British Legion.”
In the comments section, many social media users praised the duchess for taking time to speak with the families.
“This is so lovely and this is how you represent the nation and pass the thought and comfort of the nation to the families.... Lest we forget,” one person wrote.
Another added: “Beautiful, kind and such class - I love and admire her!”
Kate's participation in the virtual call marks a return to working-from-home engagements for the royal family amid England’s second lockdown to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.
It also follows Kate's final in-person appearance at Sunday's Remembrance service at the Cenotaph in London, alongside her husband, Prince William, Prince Charles and the Queen.
For the occasion, Kate wore a black Alexander McQueen coat adorned with tassel shoulders and a Philip Treacy hat.
