The Queen's official birthday celebrations are in full swing at Trooping the Colour 2018. And riding in a carriage alongside Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Kate Middleton is wearing an understated pale blue dress to the event, with a matching hat.

The Duchess of Cambridge also appeared to coordinate with her mother-in-law, as both opted for regal, yet subtle, blue looks. They looked elated to be attending Trooping the Colour 2018 together, and enjoyed the carriage ride through the streets of London, greeting fans along the journey.

As People reports, Prince William and his father, Prince Charles, "rode on horseback and not in carriages because they are both royal colonels of the Household Division," which explains why Camilla and Kate rode in a carriage together to the event. Prince Harry rode in the carriage right behind Kate and Camilla, alongside his wife, Meghan Markle, who wore a stunning, pale pink, off-the-shoulder dress, with a matching hat.

The annual Trooping the Colour celebration is also known as the Queen's second birthday, and celebrates the monarch. The royal family's official website reveals, "Over 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians come together each June in a great display of military precision, horsemanship and fanfare to mark The Queen's official birthday."

The spectacular event is attended by members of the royal family, and the general public alike, and ends with a fly-past by the RAF's Red Arrows. Queen Elizabeth, and close members of the royal family, watch the fly-past from the balcony of Buckingham Palace. This year will mark Meghan Markle's first balcony appearance.
