Kate Middleton shared on Friday that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is in the early stages of treatment. During her announcement, which was released in the form of a video from the Royal Family, Middleton also shut down any and all rumors and conspiracy theories that have been circulating on the internet over the last two months, including one alleging that Prince William was having an affair with Sarah Rose Hanbury, Marchioness of Cholmondele resulting in a rift between him and his wife. However, the princess just confirmed the opposite during her message: that her husband has been a rock for her during this difficult time.

"Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too," Middleton shared.

Middleton went on to explain that her absence from royal duties was always in the best interest of her family and three young kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment," she said. "But most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that’s appropriate for them and to reassure them that I’m going to be okay. As I’ve said to them, I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body, and spirits."

Rumors of an alleged affair between William and Rose Hanbury began circulating in 2019 when British tabloids claimed that Middleton and Hanbury had a falling out. The fabricated story re-surfaced once again in 2024 following Middleton's abdominal surgery, with the internet speculating that William's infidelity was the reason for the princess's disappearance. However, royal experts shut down the speculation and Hanbury's lawyer told Business Insider that “the rumors are completely false."
